This course examines a wide range of concerning trends in K–12 education.
Concerning Trends in Our Schools (Watch for Free)
America's public schools have changed dramatically—and many of those changes go far beyond what most parents think of as education.
In this 16-part course, teachers, researchers, school board members, authors, and parent advocates examine a wide range of concerning trends in K–12 education—from sexually explicit library books and Comprehensive Sexuality Education to Critical Race Theory, Social & Emotional Learning, declining academics, student data collection, education technology, and the expanding role of schools in children's personal lives.
While these issues may initially appear unrelated, this course explores the ideas, systems, and educational philosophies that connect them—and asks important questions about the proper role of schools, the rights of parents, and whether education should shape children's values and beliefs or focus primarily on helping them develop knowledge, skills, and the ability to think for themselves.
You'll hear specific examples from inside America's schools, learn terminology that can make complicated education policies easier to understand, and discover what parents should be looking for in their own children's schools.
The goal is not simply to tell you what to think—but to help you recognize what is happening, ask better questions, examine the evidence for yourself, and become an informed advocate for your children and their education.
